Overcoming In Life
There are great battles in life. Battles for many reasons and purposes. Life is not easy – far from it. Nor did the Lord promise it would be easy.
In the book of Revelation 2-3 we read where John writes the spoken words of Jesus to seven different churches. In the very difficult situations that each of the churches were facing, the Lord promised an extraordinary reward to those who overcome, even eternal rewards. The potential exists to overcome in life. This is also true for you today.
Jesus also says “In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer for I am have overcome the world.” There are many dimensions of understanding involved in how we live victoriously in and through the Lord. I will address this in a future video in this regard.
However, in this video I want to minister concerning where other people come along side to make the defining difference in whether or not someone overcomes in life. What is so real is that we aren’t designed to overcome in isolation, or in being alone. In fact, separation and isolation is an insidious part of the battle to prevent you from overcoming. The truth is that we need each other. Deeply.
When you have had the privilege to walk with someone in their valley of deep challenge or where they face death in diverse forms, you are making a defining difference in their lives. The battle zone is often a very lonely place. People are happy to be with us when we are well, but in our need, our brokenness, our failings in life, it is incredulous how people all but disappear. We feel stranded, helpless, even ashamed for being in a condition of need and without the ability in ourselves to see our way out.
Whenever you help others overcome in some way, you will stand apart in their lives as a gift of God to them. Likewise, accepting and receiving the love and strength of others is not a statement of intrinsic weakness but a fundamental part of the Father’s desire for you to overcome. In John 15:12-13 Jesus opens a realm of the kingdom of heaven here on earth. He says “This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”
Loved people love. Together we overcome in the love of the Father.
